Film School May Not Be Well worth the Time
Based on the amount of education that you plan to attain, film school programs take as long as six years. But let’s be truthful, unless you already know you want to become a film producer, getting a masters degree from a film school is pretty much unnecessary.
Truth is, a good number of people will tell you that you are just throwing away your time attending film school. And that’s not to mention the cash you will spend. Reliable film schools can fee more than ten thousand dollars yearly. And yet there are still other institutions that will demand double the amount. Committing four or more years of your life to something that can cost close to a hundred grand ought to be something worth it.
Unfortunately, most of the time film schools are not really worth the cost. This is due to the fact that you do not require a diploma in order to land a career in the movie business. You do not even have to go to film school to become a director. A good number of famous personas started out as production assistants, grip or personal assistants.
After that they work themselves up the ladder, eventually settling in a more qualified position they are comfortable and financially fulfilled in. With a hundred thousand dollars you could instead select to shoot your first independent film. Or create a collection of short movies that can serve as entries i several movie conventions.
With or without a degree, everybody who intend to make it big in the business will have to find an employment first. Whether or not you choose to do it with a mountain of debt and an extensive knowledge of German post-expressionist cinema or with four years of experience working on professional movie sets is pretty much up to you.
However, this doesn’t imply that film schools do not suit everyone. However, the truth is even if you have the money to spend for it, a film school may not be worth it in the end.
