Film School
The most common question is “do I need to enroll myself at a film school in order to make it big in the film industry?” Despite being common this question has been the subject of most debates for years, although there are those who state that film school can help you succeed in the film industry there are also those who contradict this claim saying film school or not it does not really matter.
To turn into a producer or director is something big and appealing thus attracting a good number of individuals from worldwide. It is not important what you do in the film business because one thing is for sure the industry very competitive and challenging to get in to. However, you can always select to concentrate of any of the facets of the movie industry. You have a number of options and positions to fill, you can be an actor, a light individual, a camera people, a sound technician, a director, a producer, and so on and so forth.
There is no denying that a film school can be truly pricey. College tuition may cost up to $130,000 for some schools. They also take a very long time, and for those who have to get out and start doing work, this is not a good option.
The disadvantage of a film school is the fact that it does not give the chance to gain as much experience as you can despite that fact that it is excellent at teaching you the concepts behind this industry. Experience is a big deal in the film industry. In order to get employed, you have to know someone, and you have to know how to do the job. The vast majority of the teachers in a film school have been a part of the school for years and rarely have the occasion to work in the industry. They cannot provide students with the knowledge of what the job would be like first-hand.
Film studios have made the connection between a pupil not knowing what to do and the lack of experience. Majority of the students do not get the opportunity to be in a real work environment and handle the gadgets used. Film school makes it very hard to get employed because of its reputation in the business.
One sure way to get hired is by working in the area. Intern, apprentice, phone for interviews… get out there! People admire work ethic, and if you find any way you can to get any job in the business, you can move up. Talk to as many people as you can, make an impact, be interested in them, and be as likeable as feasible. Network, network, contacts!
Film school may not be able to take you where you want to go, but that is okay, because choices are limitless. The most important part of determining where to get your education is to investigate as much as possible about all of the different schools, methods, internship and apprentice courses to pick which one works for you.
